El Paredon Guatemala – Vision Trust

Trip 1: June 2-9

El Paredon is a remote village located two hours outside of Guatemala city. This village suffers from a lack of infrastructure, clean water, medical care and education. Like America, the school system goes through the 12th grade but, in El Pardon, students can only attend through the 6th grade unless they are able to travel long distances. Because of it’s remote location, there is limited spiritual/church involvement from churches/ministries.

Our Partner Organization: Vision Trust

The Road is partnering with Vision Trust, a project and sponsorship-based organization, that is invested in the development and support of the village of El Paredon. To learn more about Vision Trust and/or sponsor a child, visit www.visiontrust.org.

Our Assignment

Our mission opportunities range from repairing a destroyed playground at a school, making repairs to the local school facility, hosting “Jesus Parties” (local fun evangelistic outreaches), providing medical treatment, cleaning the village (alongside local children). Our ministry will become more targeted as applicants fill out applications and let us know about their skills and giftings.

What will our accommodations and meals be?

We will be in gender specific accommodations with cot-style beds with running water and toilets. We will eat kitchen-prepared meals together and lunch will be sandwich/picnic style meals. We will be extremely limited in our ability to meet specific dietary needs (gluten free, etc.) so unless you have medically-severe food restrictions, do not expect your dietary needs to be accommodated. Please let us know what your restrictions are during your application process.

San Lucas, Guatemala – Villiage of Hope

Trip 2: June 10–16

Village of Hope is located in San Lucas, Guatemala. The vision for Village of Hope was born out of the knowledge that God has a heart for the least of these. Scripture reveals a God who is passionate about the sick, the widow, the orphan, the alien and the poor. “You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate” Luke 6:36

The purpose of Village of Hope is to provide family, faith and a future to special needs children and vulnerable mothers in a family-style setting. Each family living unit consists of house parents and about eight children or mothers living in a home together on the Village of Hope property.

Our Assignment

During our time at Village of Hope, we will use our skills to help build, repair and improve their facility and grounds. Some missionaries will work directly with the families/children that Village of Hope serves and others will help with Village of Hope’s outreach to the community.

What will our accommodations be?

We will be in gender specific accommodations with bunk-style rooms. There is running water and toilets. We will all eat kitchen-prepared meals together. Lunch will be sandwich/picnic style meals. We will be extremely limited in our ability to meet specific dietary needs (gluten free, etc.) so unless you have medically-severe food restrictions, do not expect your dietary needs to be accommodated. Please let us know what your restrictions are during your application process.
