What is this life about?

Is there more to life than this? What am I here for?

Yes. You were made for a personal friendship with God. He loves you and desires to have you with Him, beginning in this life and moving into eternity.

“We love Him because He first loved us.” – 1 John 4:19

So why am I not experiencing this close relationship?

Evil and rebellion are present in this world. Just like the rest of humanity, you were born under the curse called “sin.” God is perfectly holy and sin separates you from the Holy God. This is the ultimate reality of death–separation from a holy God forever–the consequence of our rebellion.

We all sin and fall short of the glory of God. – Romans 3:23

So is it hopeless? Am I doomed to eternal separation from God?

You don’t have to experience this eternal separation! In fact, you can have eternal acceptance starting right now. It is not by your own work or your own goodness. It is because God did the work for you.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23

How did God provide a way of escape?

2,000 years ago, God came down as a man, Jesus. Fully God and fully man, Jesus showed God’s love through healing the sick, casting out demons, teaching the way of God, and, ultimately, dying on the cross. Instead of allowing you to be forever separated from God, He died in your place, accepting the punishment for your sin.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

What does Jesus’ death on the cross mean for me?

Someone had to die. It is the principle of cause and effect in the universe. A debt owed must be paid. It had to be either you or I paying this sin debt by our own spiritual deaths or God paying it for us. By dying on the Cross, Jesus paid the debt caused by the sin of the world. His death means that we no longer owe God anything. We are free to have a personal relationship with Him again.

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.” – 1 Peter 3:18

Did Jesus stay dead?

Three days after dying on the Cross, Jesus rose back to life! He was seen by hundreds of people before ascending to heaven. He defeated sin on the Cross and death when he rose back to life. By this resurrection, Jesus confirmed that He was the ultimate power in the universe. He is the living God.

“We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.” – Romans 6:9-10

How do I join in this new life?

The Bible says that you simply believe in your heart and confess with your mouth and you will be saved.
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” – Romans 10:9

And then you begin the most incredible journey you will ever experience …

The journey of a personal relationship with God.
