Playwriting for Teens (Ages 12-18)

Wednesdays 4:30-6:00 PM
January 28 – April 22, 2026
Instructor: Persia Stanley
Cost: $144 (sibling discount 10%, type in SIBLING10)

In this hands-on creative writing class, students will work together to craft an original play that will be performed as part of The Road’s 2026 VBS. Through guided exercises, group brainstorming, character creation, and script development, young writers will learn how to shape compelling stories for the stage. From plot structure to dialogue to collaborative revision, students will experience the full process of bringing a script from idea to performance. Perfect for imaginative teens who love storytelling, theatre, or seeing their ideas come alive!

We will be conducting our collaborative writing and editing on Google Docs, so a laptop or tablet is recommended for this class. However, a pen and paper will also work if you don’t have access to one, and you can then transcribe at home.

About the Instructor

Persia Stanley

Persia Stanley is a creative soul with a heart for Jesus and a deep love of wonder. As the second of six siblings in a lively, homeschooled household, she’s been immersed in storytelling, imagination, and the beautiful chaos of family life for as long as she can remember.

At seventeen, Persia may be young, but she’s passionate about helping the next generation rediscover the joy of creativity and the unique talents God has given them. Her own writing journey began with a homemade superhero comic called Power Puppy, and she hasn’t stopped filling notebooks since.

Persia brings hands-on experience working with children through church childcare, American Heritage Girls, babysitting, and, of course, being a big sister. She believes childhood is sacred—a season of curiosity, growth, and play—and hopes to foster that in every child she teaches. When asked what she wants to be when she grows up, she smiles and says, “A kid.”

Beyond writing, Persia is an avid lover of puppetry, aviation, and the arts. She’s also an animal enthusiast, happily sharing her life with chickens, alpacas, cats, dogs, and one particularly opinionated rabbit. Rainy days, foggy forests, and sunny scooter rides are a few of her favorite things.
